Outpatient Clinics
Unlike a hospital, an outpatient clinic has no overnight patients. Instead, patients enter the clinic during the day, are treated and cared for by a physician or specialist, and leave the structure after care is given. They can range from simple physicians’ offices that provide primary care, to large, independent hospitals without beds. Outpatient surgical clinics are now a common facility type, as the majority of surgical procedures may not require overnight hospitalization.
